Recently Mark Wahlberg (‘Ted’, ‘Planet of the Apes’) had a chance to sit down and talk about his upcoming blockbuster ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction‘. Most of the time when you think of Michael Bay’s first three ‘Transformers’ films you probably think that they are mainly about the battle scenes. Wahlberg stresses that he really wants the audience to not sell this installment short as they’ve really got something special here. With their recent viral marketing they are at least giving us a special marketing campaign to enjoy.

Believe it or not, according to Wahlberg the trailers are not the best parts of the movie to start with!

“I think a lot of time, moviegoers are kind of tricked by trailers. They’ll see a cool moment and go, ‘Oh, I can’t wait to see that,’ but once they see [the trailer] they’ve seen the best bits of the movie.”

We know the Dinobots are in the film, but how involved are they? Well..

“Recruiting the dinobots — it’s pretty elaborate in how it happens. It’s not like Optimus has a whistle and they come running, he’s really got to convince them to come onboard and fight this fight, and it’s pretty cool how it’s done. I think people are definitely going to get their money’s worth, it’s well worth the wait. And I think, for the die-hard fans, they’re going to have a whole new thing to look forward to in the future.”

Yes! Not only does it sound like we’ll get the unruly Dinobots as they were originally portrayed but that we’re getting hints at future things to come. I mean, it should be no surprise at this point that if they have another blockbuster on their hands that we’ll see more ‘Transformers’ films.

Walhberg wouldn’t really elaborate on exactly what the new new thing was just that audiences should, but did give this teaser:

“Just expect to be blown away. When we saw parts of the movie, and how it’s come together, you know, you have a whole new cast, you have a whole new threat, new enemies and all the things that you liked, with all the explosions and the action, but it’s just a little bit more realistic, a little bit more believable, I think.”

As I tend to like Wahlberg in films, I’m going to bite. If nothing else and he’s overselling, we’ll still at the very least have some giant robots fighting on the big screen. Have Wahlberg’s words swayed you? Are you looking forward to ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’?
