Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’ has been compared to ‘Game of Thrones’ and the latest clip definitely brings that HBO hit to mind, with its depiction of two warring armies clashing on the battlefield. Netflix is spending beaucoup bucks on this series and this trailer shows that off arguably for the first time.
Star Henry Cavill described his character, Geralt of Rivia, by saying:
“He’s not your average hero. He’s a tough person who won’t treat everybody perfectly. He’s very hard on the exterior because that’s what he believes the world is… and all the decisions get him into trouble.”

The Witcher is based on Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels (which also inspired a series of role-playing videogames) and is set in a land called the Continent that was invaded by demons from a parallel dimension, which also gave rise to a breed of monster killers called Witchers. The tale follows Witcher Geralt, sorceress Yennefer, and the young princess Ciri, who come together to form an unlikely family of sorts.
‘The Witcher’ also stars Freya Allan as Princess Ciri, and Anya Chalotra as the sorceress, Yennefer. The cast also includes Joey Batey as Jaskier, MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, Tom Canton as Filavandrel, Eamon Farren as Cahir, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson as Eist, Adam Levy as Mousesack, Jodhi May as Queen Calanthe, Lars Mikkelsen as Stregobor, Maciej Musial as Sir Lazlo, Mimi Ndiweni as Fringilla, Royce Pierreson as Istredd, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte as Dara, Anna Shaffer as Triss, Amit Shah as Torque, and Therica Wilson-Read as Sabrina.
Season 1 consists of eight episodes, but Netflix has already renewed ‘The Witcher’ for a second season which will likely arrive in 2021.
But viewers can check out the first season when it arrives on Netfix next week, on December 20. (Y’know, before or after you check out ‘The Rise of Skywalker’.
