The Three Stars Of Hocus Pocus Have All Said "Yes" To The Disney+ Sequel!
Disney

Last week, it was announced that writer Jen D’Angelo (‘Workaholics’) had been tapped to pen a sequel to the classic Disney movie ‘Hocus Pocus’ for the Disney+ streaming service.  Now comes confirmation that all three stars of the original– Bette Midler, Kathy Najimi, and Sarah Jessica Parker– are on board to return!

Najimi attended Midler’s annual Hulaween gala in New York City on Halloween night, where Midler exclaimed (courtesy of Entertainment Tonight):

“Oh my goodness me. Oh, I hope they get to me before I’m a corpse.  We wanna fly again. I hope Disney+ is a big success and I hope we get to do it, because [Winifred] is of course one of my favorite characters…. I can’t wait to read the script. We’re gonna see what happens.”

On Instagram, a fan asked Parker about the sequel, to which she replied:

“We have all said yes. Now we wait.”

However, the three stars are all very busy.  Midler’s Hulaween event is a fundraiser for one of her many charitable causes.  She is set to star in the film ‘The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife’.  Najimi has been making the rounds of fan conventions, and will lend her voice to the upcoming Disney series ‘The Rocketeer’.

While also attending Hulaween, Najimi expressed that she definitely wants to appear in the sequel, even if it’s a cameo:

“I heard about it online the same time as [everyone else]. But here’s the honest answer: Sarah and Bette and I all have a million projects and things that we’re into, so I don’t know if they’re gonna offer us [roles]. I don’t know if the worlds are going to collide so that we could all three do it at the same time.  But I’m happy that it’s happening, because the fans are really rabid and they really want it.  [And] if we’re not all available to star in it, I think it would be so great to do a cameo. I think that’d be really fun.”

The first ‘Hocus Pocus’ was directed by Kenny Ortega, who has remained attached to Disney, having created and directed all of the movies in the ‘High School Musical’ and ‘Descendants’ franchises.

Considering that the script is just now being written, don’t expect this anytime soon, but at least it’s underway, and the original stars are positive about returning to their roles.
