Fans in Birmingham, England are enjoying the Destination Star Trek convention this weekend and the first scoop to emerge is a look at the new Starfleet Admiral uniform that Picard (Patrick Stewart) will be seen wearing in the upcoming CBS All Access series ‘Star Trek: Picard’. In the series, Picard will have reached the rank of Admiral before retiring.
Fan blog Trek Core posted a number of images of the new uniform, modeled on a mannequin. Here are two. If you want to see more, including more up-close detail pics, head over there.
This uniform was crafted by ‘Picard’ costume designer Christine Clark. As Trek Core pointed out, it appears that she drew inspiration from Bob Blackman who designed costumes throughout the ’90s.
The image at the top of the page is taken from the cover of IDW’s ‘Star Trek: Picard’ comic book prequel series, painted by Sara Pitre-Durocher.
This cover was also unveiled at Destination Star Trek.
The IDW Comic series is set before the events of the TV series. Here are brief synopses for the three-part series.
Issue One: “Before he retired to his vineyard, Jean-Luc Picard was the most decorated admiral in Starfleet. Then one mission changed his life forever. The Countdown starts here!”
Issue Two: “As the situation on the Romulan colony continues to unravel, Picard finds himself faced with a difficult choice that will affect millions.”
Issue Three: “Jean-Luc Picard has traveled to the furthest reaches of the galaxy, defeated impossible foes, and survived in the face of unthinkable odds, but it’s the end of this one mission that will change his life forever.”
The first issue will be released on November 4.
The IDW series will be followed by a prequel novel, which is also set before the events of the TV show. ‘Star Trek: Picard: The Last Best Hope’ was written by Una McCormack and will be published by Simon & Shuster. The book will be released on February 11, 2020.
‘Star Trek: Picard’ arrives on CBS All Access on January 23, 2020.
