Game Over For Toony Terrors NES Wave

While many fans were excited to see NECA squeak out one last pair of Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger figures before their time with the licenses for these characters were up, it looks like the rights holders for these characters have pulled the plug on the latest wave of NECA’s Toony Terrors line. Just announced last week, NECA’s Toony Terrors was being given a ‘Wave 2.5’ of figures that would comprise of NES video game style colorations of the previously released Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger figures. NECA has removed all mention of these figures from their website and social media sites, and anyone that has already preordered these items has been receiving cancellation notices.

While no reason has really been given as to why these figures that were just announced last week have been cancelled, it likely has to do with complications spurring from the ongoing legal issues regarding the rights to both of these characters, Rumors have been running that NECA only has to put new Jason and Freddy products on hold for the time being while the legal side of things is sorted out, but there is still a chance that we may never see new ‘Friday The 13th’ or ‘Nightmare On Elm Street’ products from NECA again, which is a travesty. Be sure to stay tuned for more information as it becomes available!

Finish Him!

While the team at McFarlane Toys is not new to the gaming collectibles scene, they have definitely been putting in the effort to go to the next level with it lately! Many of their newer gaming based figure lines have been well received by fans so far, so is McFarlane going to be able to keep up with the fan demands?

This week McFarlane Toys has announced two new figure variants for the already popular 7″ scale ‘Mortal Kombat’ line! The only characters available right now are Scorpion and Sub-Zero, so of course McFarlane is ready with a figure variant for each of them! The newest Scorpion figure will use the character’s ‘Smolder’ character skin as seen in ‘Mortal Kombat 11’, while Sub-Zero’s new variant is a figure of his ‘Ice-Clone’ from the game. Each figure features 22 points of articulation and comes packaged with character (and design) specific accessories! These figures are both set to be available exclusively at Gamestop stores when they release this November for $19.99 each.
