You know, Ned, you were the one who wanted to be Peter’s “guy in the chair,” and to take on all the responsibilities that entailed. And yet, when it comes time to concoct a cover story to explain why that ISN’T Spider-Man swinging through Europe, the best you could come up with was “Night Monkey?” I think we need you to turn in your chair.
In addition to redubbing Peter’s Spider-Sense as the “Peter Tingle,” “Night Monkey” was another instance of humorous wordplay from ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’, this summer’s breezy follow-up to the emotional rollercoaster ‘Avengers: Endgame’. But ‘Far From Home’ packs its own wallops and fans can now relive them over and over on digital, with a Blu-Ray release coming on October 1.
And to promote the film’s home video release, Sony has cut together a trailer for a ‘Night Monkey’ movie. Of course, it’s just footage of Spidey in his “stealth suit” but it’s still fun. Check it out below:
Ironically, the fake trailer opens with Peter ominously stating:
“I face a lot of deception. And I’m tired of the lies. It’s time for the truth to be out there.”
Of course, he probably felt differently at the end of the movie, when HIS deception was revealed to the whole world. We have a couple of years to wait before we see how that plays out on the big screen. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have his buddies from the MCU to fall back on.
Then again, he’s always done a horrible job of keeping his identity secret anyway. “Oh, we’re using our made-up names?” Not only that, but Captain America kept calling him “Queens” so not only does everyone within earshot know his real name, but where to find him.
If your a big fan of the Night Monkey stealth suit, Walmart will offer a bundle of the Blu-Ray and DVD with a retro Night Monkey action figure, which can be pre-ordered at Walmart.com.
‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ is the highest-grossing ‘Spider-Man’ film yet, and you can keep throwing money at it now on digital, and on October 1 on Blu-Ray and DVD.
