Battlecat Rides Again

This past weekend at PowerCon, the annual ‘Masters Of The Universe’ convention, we got a glimpse at the future; and it is awesome! Mattel is taking back the ‘Masters Of The Universe’ license from Super7 to release their new ‘Masters Of The Universe: Origins’ line of 5″ scale figures that feel like updated takes on the classic figures from the 80’s! While its sad that Super7’s continuation of the ‘Masters Of The Universe Classics’ line had to come to an end in order to do it, the new ‘MOTU: Origins’ line looks to be breathing new life into this aging franchise and giving fans some really unique new figures based on these classic characters. The first few figures for the line were announced back at SDCC, but this weekend Mattel did a figurative mic-drop with the reveal of the all new fully articulated ‘Masters Of The Universe: Origins’ Battlecat figure! Details are scarce for now as far as when we can expect Battcat to hit the shelves of your favorite toy departments, but we will definitely be keeping you posted! Check out the newly released images below!

Super7 Has The Power

While they may be bidding a fond farewell to the ‘Masters Of The Universe Classics’ toyline reboot, Super7 is far from down and out if their showings at PowerCon this weekend have anything to say about it! According to our friends over at ToyArk (where you can check out full image galleries), this year may be Super7’s biggest year yet with a number of quality new items joining their lineup including brands like ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’, ‘Thundercats’, and ‘Conan The Barbarian’!

The first wave of ‘Thundercats Ultimates’ are up for pre-order now, with at least four additional waves of four figures each planned for release in the next year (Wave 2 in January 2020, Wave 3 in April 2020, Wave 4 in July 2020, and Wave 5 in October 2020)! Most fans of the previous ‘Thundercats Classics’ line will note that this means we are very likely going to get reissues of the other previously released figure from Mattel, plus all of the fan favorite characters we have been missing all this time! Sadly, no word on what characters are being released in what wave, but with sixteen open figure slots, I think it’s a safe bet this line could be what fans have been dreaming of.

First teased back at Toy Fair in February, Super7 finally revealed the first figures in their new ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ultimates’ line, which is bringing modern articulation to the character designs of the original ‘TMNT; toyline you all know and love! The first wave is set to be comprised of Raphael, Splinter, Baxter Stockman, and a Foot Soldier. We can look forward to an additional four waves over the next year or so, with Wave 1 up for pre-order in October, followed by Wave 2 in March 2020, Wave 3 in June 2020, Wave 4 in September 2020, and Wave 5 in December 2020. Each of the first four waves will feature one of the four Turtles themselves, plus a well rounded cast of characters from the original toyline!

Finally, we have news of Super7’s latest nostalgia-heavy line, ‘Conan Ultimates’! These figures are based off of the classic ‘Conan The Barbarian’ film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger (which, in turn, was actually the film that spawned the ‘Masters Of The Universe’ line back in the day after they had already developed ‘Conan’ figures and then cancelled the toyline)! Not much info is yet available for the ‘Conan Ultimates’ line, but fans can expect the first wave to include Conan The Barbarian, Rexor, and a Guard! Additionally there are reports that Tulsa Doom is in the works but tied up in a copyright issue at the moment, so no word on when we might actually see him. Stay tuned for more details on the new ‘Conan Ultimates’  and all of the other new lines from Super7!

NECA’s Next NYCC Exclusive Reveal

This next figure set was first teased at New York Toy Fair in 2018, and we are super excited to see that it is finally seeing release! This year at New York Comic Con 2019 collectors will be able to pick up an all new NECA exclusive DC Comics vs Dark Horse COmics figure 2-pack of Batman vs an Alien Warrior from the classic ‘Batman Vs Alien’ comic series! This Batman is an all new sculpt, while the Alien looks to reuse a number of parts from older figures but sports a fancy new Joker inspired color scheme! This is the first official word that this item will be sold this year at New York Comic Con 2019 at the NECA booth alongside the previously announced 2-pack featuring Green Lantern Hal Jordan and a Yellow Lantern Predator! No word yet regarding pricing, but we can imagine it will liekly be priced similarly to the San Diego Comic Con 2019 2-packs that released earlier this year at $60. Check the release info from NECA below!

Batman/Aliens – 7” Scale Action Figures – Batman and “Joker” Alien 2-Pack

This action figure 2-pack is inspired by a classic comic book mash-up! In the 1997 Batman/Aliens comic book mini-series co-published by DC Comics and Dark Horse Comics. In it, #Batman faces strange new Aliens produced using DNA from some of Arkham Asylum’s deadliest inmates. The set includes two brand new, comic book based figures, both with over 30 points of articulation. Batman features a fabric cape, and the “Joker” Alien has a bendable tail. Window box packaging with embossed opening flap.

Funko Heads Back For More ‘Kingdom Hearts’

Earlier this year SquareEnix finally paid off their promise of 14 years with the release of ‘Kingdom Hearts 3’! The team at Funko had made POP! Vinyls based on earlier games in the franchise, so it’s fantastic news for fans of the series to hear that they’re planning on releasing a number of new POP! Vinyls based on the latest game in the long running saga that mashes up ‘Disney’ and ‘Final Fantasy’ for an amazing RPG experience! Soon you’ll be able to pick up Sora with the Ultima Weapon, Kairi, Aqua, and Lea! There will also be retailer exclusives like the Specialty Series Kairi with Keyblade, the Box Lunch exclusive Dark Aqua, and the Hot Topic exclusive Lea with Keyblade! These are all expected to hit the market in the coming weeks, so be sure to keep your eyes open if you want to be able to defeat the Heartless!

Funko Ready To ‘Purge’

‘The Purge’ horror film franchise has had a kind of insane level of success over the last few years, appearing on the scene and pumping out a number of sequels in quick succession. That’s just what makes them the perfect kind of license for Funko, who also has a generally quick turnaround and releases a lot of items in quick succession to one another. Horror collectors will soon be out hunting down POP! Vinyls of some of their favorite characters from ‘The Purge’, with characters like Lady Liberty, Big Pig, Betsy Ross, and Freakbride from ‘The Purge: Election Year’, and The Waving God from ‘The Purge: Anarchy’! This new line of Funko POP! Vinyls is expected to his stores just in time for the Halloween season!
