Ahead of San Diego Comic-Con International next week, the “next evolution” of a new ‘Star Wars Trooper– the Sith Trooper– has been unveiled.  A full-sized suit of Sith Trooper armor will be on display along with that of various past Troopers.

Madlyn Burkert, a Lucasfilm archivist, who is co-producing the exhibit, said:

“It has some really unique aesthetics to it.  And it has some subtle ties to previous stormtrooper designs, which I think fans will enjoy discovering.”

In ‘The Force Awakens’ and ‘The Last Jedi’, the First Order Troopers looked similar to the old school Stormtroopers, while the new Sith Trooper looks like that design, it employs the red and black color scheme of Emperor Snoke’s Praetorian Guards.  Per StarWars.comStarWars.com: “It’s a modern and more menacing look befitting its namesake.”

Sith Troopers have been previously referenced in the ‘Knights of the Old Republic’ computer game.

The armor exhibition at SDCC will be located at the Lucasfilm pavilion (booth #2913), and will display nine suits: Imperial stormtrooper, TIE pilot, death trooper, shoretrooper, biker scout, First Order stormtrooper, First Order TIE pilot, Captain Phasma, and Sith Trooper.

Este Meza, Lucasfilm’s senior manager of events explained:

“The Stormtrooper itself is one of the most iconic parts of Star Wars.  Seeing all of the pieces of armor together is very powerful.”

Burkert said:

“We’re really excited to show this design history.  It takes us from the beginnings of Star Wars and leads us right to the final chapter of the Skywalker saga.”

If you like the new Sith Trooper design, you can find it adapted to various forms of merchandising, including action figures by Hasbro and Hot Toys, Beeline Geeki Tiki drinkware in various styles, tee shirts by Fifth Sun, Funko Pop figurines, Halloween costumes by Rubie’s, and more, much of which will be on display at SDCC.
