Corey Feldman in 'The Lost Boys'

It was just announced that ‘The Lost Boys’ pilot for The CW is being completely reshot with only two cast members from the first version– Medalion Rahimi and Dakota Shapiro— being kept.  The other roles will be recast and one star of the original 1987 movie has a suggestion:

Corey Feldman portrayed Edgar Frog in the film, while Jamison Newlander played his brother Alan.  The siblings were natives of the oceanside community of Santa Carla and worked at the local comic book shop.  They seemed to be the only two who acknowledged the bizarre vampire-fueled goings-on in the community, until the arrival of Sam Emerson (Corey Haim).

Despite the first film, directed by Joel Schumacher, being a massive hit, no sequels were immediately forthcoming.  Finally, in 2008, a direct-to-video followup ‘The Lost Boys: The Tribe’ arrived, followed by 2010’s ‘The Lost Boys: The Thirst’.  Feldman starred in both.  Newlander filmed scenes for ‘The Tribe’ but they were cut, but he did co-star in ‘The Thirst’.

A fourth film was discussed, as was a Frog Brothers TV series, but Warner Premier folded before either could come to fruition.

For The CW’s pilot, the Frog Brothers were reinvented as the Frog Sisters, Liza and Cassie, and in the first version, they were played by Cheyenne Haynes, and Haley Tju, respectively.

“Sharp, cool and lightly Goth, the Frog Sisters are teenage locals who work at Santa Carla’s comic-book store. Until Sam arrives, they think they’re the only ones aware of the darkness in this town.”

The CW is likely to stick with the Frog Sisters, but it would be cool if some actors from the original movie had something to do with the show.  Maybe Feldman and Newlander could be the Frog Fathers?  Or Frog Uncles?

At any rate, the series is being redeveloped, so stay tuned for updates.
