Superman: Year One

Frank Miller has long been known to deliver a game-changing or groundbreaking take on iconic characters and next in his sites is the Man of Steel! Coming out this week is ‘Superman: Year One’ by both Miller and John Romita, Jr. The book is coming out under their new Black Label imprint, which has been giving us some of the more unique stories from DC since its inception. This larger format mini-series gets a full sneak peek with a trailer that DC has dropped for this three-part series.

While this is an exciting venture thanks to the storytellers bringing us this tale, the downside is we just saw Superman’s origin messed up thanks to the events of “Doomsday Clock” which almost makes this feel redundant or a story set outside of the central DC Universe.

According to DC, ‘Superman: Year One’ is described as follows:

From the creators behind The Dark Knight Returns, and Kick-Ass comes a powerful new look at the early days of the Man of Steel. Superman: Year One is a prestige format three-part comic series by Frank Miller and John Romita, Jr. that offers an inspiring testament to the importance of choice and a definitive origin story to the world’s first superhero.

While I do admit that this looks amazing and I want to read it thanks to Miller’s involvement, I’m also not as excited for this one as I am for the current titles or the upcoming ‘Joker/Harley: Criminal Sanity’ and ‘Harleen’ books.
