Blumhouse Television and Hulu are going big for their monthly horror event series and have just cast the six leading stars for their “School Spirit” episode of ‘Into the Dark.’ The actors who were picked up are Corey Fogelmanis (‘Ma’), Annie Q. (‘The Leftovers’), Jessi Case (‘Mother’s Day’), Julian Works (‘Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones’), Philip Labes (‘The OA’), and Hugo Armstrong (‘Fear The Walking Dead’). Each of these actors has experience with genre work and should know what to expect when it comes to a horror feature.
For those unfamiliar with ‘Into the Dark,’ it is Blumhouse Television’s 12 feature-length episode event series which plans to have a release a month over the course of the year. The focus of each episode will be inspired by a holiday in that month and be done in the style Blumhouse is known for. The first episode for this series was titled ‘The Body’ and fitting for the genre was a Halloween episode.

In the upcoming “School Spirit” episode, we’ll follow “a group of social outcasts who are stuck in weekend detention and then confronted by the school’s legendary hauntings.” From the description, all I can think of is that it is a modern-day telling of ‘The Breakfast Club’ mixed with horror. This installment will be directed by Gan who also co-wrote it with Patrick Casy and Josh Miller.
