Mesa Thinks George Lucas Has Gone Senile As He Shares Jar Jar Binks Is His Favorite Character

Some people love Jar Jar Binks, and then there is the rest of us. While we know George Lucas was responsible for the creation of the character, it turns out that the creator of a galaxy far, far away feels that Binks is his greatest creation.

Lucas also thinks that ‘Star Wars: The Phantom Menace‘ is one of his favorite films from the entire franchise though that one isn’t quite as shocking of a revelation. Watching Anakin Skywalker turn into Darth Vader and Sheev Palpatine rise to being The Emporer has quite a few great sequences even if they aren’t as solid as the original trilogy and ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ is even able to redeem most of the faults that many have with these films.

However, for those who hate Jar Jar Binks with a burning passion “Yoosa should follow me now, okeeday?” as I agree with you that there is no way to redeem the character. That being said, at “The Phantom Menace” panel at Star Wars Celebration 2019 Lucas shared that Jar Jas “is my favorite character.” On top of that, he felt that Ahmed Best “did a fantastic job, it was very, very hard” to bring the character to life. Even Best “wanted to really be just hacked to pieces in some kind of way” even if it was just to give the character closure.

Disney has tried to find ways to make the character more heroic in the novel ‘Star Wars: Age of Republic Special’ by making him have a huge win in the Clone Wars. On top of this, the company did end up giving fans closure with Chuck Wendig’s “Aftermath” trilogy showing what happened to the character and painting him in a more tragic figure it is still his initial appearances which will stick in the minds of most fans of the franchise.

Before my fellow Star Wars start an intergalactic civil war, I don’t really feel that Lucas is going senile and we just have a different opinion of what were the best parts of his creation.

Are you on Team Jar Jar or do you think that it was best for the franchise that George Lucas didn’t have a chance to bring us more characters like this? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
