With Comedy Central’s ‘Broad City’ ending, star Ilana Glazer has lined up her next project and it’s a horror movie coming from A24. Glazer will star in ‘False Positive’, along with Justin Theroux and Pierce Brosnan. Filming is expected to begin next week, on April 1. The cast also includes Sophia Bush, Josh Hamilton, Zainab Jah, and Gretchen Mol. Glazer co-wrote ‘False Positive’ with the movie’s director John Lee, who has also helmed episodes of ‘Broad City’.
In addition to that, Lee created, wrote, directed and starred in the Adult Swim live-action series ‘Neon Joe, Werewolf Hunter’. Lee has also worked on ‘Wonder Showzen’, ‘Xavier: Renegade Angel’, ‘Inside Amy Schumer’, ‘The Last O.G.’, and the special ‘Pee Wee’s Big Holiday’. He will serve as producer on ‘False Positive’.
The plot of ‘False Positive’ has not been disclosed, but ‘Neon Joe, Werewolf Hunter’ mixed the supernatural with humor, so it is likely to follow that same formula.
Glazer has been nominated twice for the Emmy Awards for ‘Broad City’. She also appeared in the movie ‘Rough Night’ and will next be heard on Netflix’s upcoming animated series ‘Green Eggs and Ham’ based on the classic Dr. Seuss book.
As for her costars, Theroux appeared in Netflix’s sci-fi series ‘Maniac’, and before that, starred on HBO’s ‘The Leftovers’. Among his film credits are ‘Mulholland Drive’, ‘American Psycho’, ‘Miami Vice’,’Mute’, ‘Zoolander’, ‘Zoolander 2’, and ‘The Spy that Dumped Me’. His voice will be heard in the live-action adaptation of ‘Lady and the Tramp’ which will debut on Disney+. But perhaps he is best known for being married to Jennifer Aniston for a while.
Brosnan is most recognized for playing James Bond in the 1990s-early ’00s. He currently stars on AMC’s historical drama ‘The Son’. He was seen last year in the films ‘Final Score’ and ‘Mama Mia! Here We Go Again’.
