shazam

SPOILER ALERT: This article contains some potential SPOILERS for ‘Shazam!’ so if you haven’t seen the new DC action figures or Funko Pop!s from the movie, proceed with caution.

Wasn’t the “Wisdom of Solomon” part of this deal?  You wouldn’t think so, as it has been shown in previous trailers that Billy Batson has no idea what his new superpowers are… or even how to pee in his new red threads.  Now it seems that the concept of keeping a secret identity is also beyond his present abilities.

In this clip from ‘Shazam!’, the fledgling hero, played by Zachary Levi, returns to his newest foster home, along with new brother Freddy Freeman (Jack Dylan Grazer), but in trying to avoid their guardians Victor and Rosa Vasquez (Cooper Andrews and Marta Milans), they duck into the room belonging to the youngest foster sibling, Darla Dudley (Faithe Herman).  In trying to keep from freaking her out, Billy accidentally discovers the means of transforming from one form to another, which is bad news for Victor who is trying to put up the family’s Christmas tree.

Check out the new clip below:

In January, Herman, who some fans may recognize from her role as Annie, the youngest family member on the hit NBC series ‘This is Us’, revealed to Buzzfeed that she relates more to her ‘Shazam!’ role than the more grounded ‘This is Us’ character.

“I’m more like Darla. We both talk a lot, we love our family, and we are the youngest, so I really got to bring Darla to life in this movie.”

However, even though she sort of gets to play a superhero herself, her favorite crime buster is another citizen of the DC Universe.

“My favorite superhero is Wonder Woman. I love how sweet and caring she is. And the movie was so amazing, like her weapons and how she fights.”

‘Wonder Woman’ was a huge hit and was followed by ‘Aquaman’ that took in more than $1 billion this winter.  Will ‘Shazam!’ continue the winning streak?

We’ll find out on April 5, when ‘Shazam!’ opens.
