Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina Part 2

Sabrina Spellman (Kiernan Shipka) looks to be headed down a dark path in the new trailer for Part 2 of Netflix’s breakout hit ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’.  At the end of the first season, Sabrina was shown, now sporting whiter hair, attending the Academy of Unseen Arts, which may explain why, in the opening of this new clip, she is shown about to set fire to her old mortal school, Baxter High.

But it is also evident that Sabrina has not truly crossed over to the dark side.  As headmaster Father Faustus Blackwood (Richard Coyle) points out, since Sabrina signed the Book of the Beast, some strange occurrences have taken place, including “levitation, the slaughter of demons, and resurrection of witches.”  But a fledgling half-mortal, half-witch like Sabrina shouldn’t be capable of such feats.  But as the first season depicted, there’s a lot to Sabrina that’s unexpected.

As she tells her aunts, “I can choose to be afraid of my powers or I can use them.”

Complicating things even further is a threat more powerful than Father Blackwood– the Dark Lord himself!

Of course, in addition to her growing mystical abilities, Sabrina’s romantic situation is growing more complicated, as she obviously still loves human Harvey Kinkle (Ross Lynch), but is growing closer to warlock Nick Scratch (Gavin Leatherwood).

You may recall the legal dispute between the Satanic Temple and Netflix last year, over the use of a statue in the Academy of Dark Arts.  The case was settled out of court and it looks as though a solution was found, as in this preview, the head of the statue is shown being lopped off.  Guess that solves that problem!

As a bonus, here is the poster for the new season:

The series also stars Abigail F. Cowen as Dorcas, Lucy Davis as Hilda Spellman, Tati Gabrielle as Prudence Night, Michelle Gomez as Mary Wardwell/Madame Satan, Miranda Otto as Zelda Spellman, Chance Perdomo as Ambrose Spellman, Adeline Rudolph as Agatha, Jaz Sinclair as Rosalind Walker, and Lachlan Watson as Susie Putnam.

Season 2 welcomes Alexis Denisof and Jedidiah Goodacre.  Denisof plays Adam Masters, the boyfriend of Mary Wardwell: “Handsome and charming, Adam returns to Greendale after a stint overseas working with Physicians Without Frontiers — unaware that his fiance has been taken over by the demoness Madam Satan.”  Goodacre’s character, warlock Dorian Gray, is described as “The owner of Dorian’s Gray Room, an exclusive nightclub, this enigmatic gentleman of an indeterminate age is very good at keeping secrets, especially his own — a cursed portrait he hides from prying eyes.”

“Do you think you can handle it?”

Season 2 of the series kicks off on April 5, 2019.  Netflix has already ordered a third and fourth season.
