‘Ready Player One’s Olivia Cooke and ‘Trial By Fire’s (and possible future Batman) Jack O’Connell will play a married couple struggling to hold on to their love in the face of a global pandemic that wipes out people’s memories, in Chad Hartigan’s upcoming sci-fi drama ‘Little Fish’. This marks Hartigan’s fourth film following ‘Luke and Brie are on a First Date’, and the Sundance award-winning ‘This is Martin Bonner’, and ‘Morris from America’.
The screenplay was written by Mattson Tomlin based on a short story by Aja Gabel. ‘Little Fish’ will be produced by Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Rian Cahill of Automatik; Tim Headington and Lia Buman of Tango; Chris Ferguson of Oddfellows Entertainment; and Mattson Tomlin.
Prior to ‘Ready Player One’, Cooke starred on ‘Bates Motel’ and the acclaimed film ‘Me, Earl, and the Dying Girl’. She headlined last year’s miniseries adaptation of ‘Vanity Fair’, and will be seen in this year’s drama ‘Sound of Metal’. She is currently filming Amazon Prime’s anthology series ‘Modern Love’, which will also star Sofia Boutella, Tina Fey, Andy García, Anne Hathaway, Catherine Keener, Dev Patel, and John Slattery.
O’Connell starred in the acclaimed Netflix miniseries ‘Godless’, and in the films ‘Money Monster’, directed by Jodie Foster and co-starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts, and ‘Unbroken’, directed by Angelina Jolie. He will next be seen in the true-life crime drama ‘Trial by Fire’, directed by Edward Zwick and another true-life biopic, ‘Against All Enemies’ with Zazie Beetz, Anthony Mackie, Kristen Stewart, and Vince Vaughn. He is also one of the names that has been whispered as being under consideration to be the next cinematic Batman for Warner Brothers.
Raúl Castillo (Netflix’s ‘Atypical’) and Soko (‘The Great Darkened Days’) are also part of the cast. ‘Little Fish’ is expected to begin filming later this month.
