‘Avatar 2’ and the rest of the films in the franchise will be about family and now director James Cameron has confirmed a major rumor that fits perfectly in these details. When the film debuts we’ll see that Sam Worthington’s Jake Sully and Zoe Saldana’s Neytiri had a daughter. We’ll see the two characters not only married, but they’ll also have an eight-year-old daughter who will likely play an important part, not only in this film, but in all those to come as well.
According to Cameron:
“There’s a three-page argument scene between Jake and Neytiri, a marital dispute, very, very critical to the storyline. I wound up shooting it all from the point of view of the eight-year-old hiding under the structure and peeking in […] Having gone through the experience with [Sam Worthington] on Avatar, I now knew how to write the Jake character going forward across the emotional rollercoaster of the next four movies. It’s been tough on him. He’s done two pictures back to back now because we did 2 and 3 together. He had to go to some dark places.”
The franchise has at least five films planned out so far, but many are skeptical if the second and third installments can live up to the box office numbers of the original ‘Avatar.’ Of course, if anyone can release a hit it is James Cameron so it wouldn’t be too surprising to see either of these movies end up as smash hits.
