Disney Descendants 3

The VKs (villain kids) of Disney’s ‘Descendants’ franchise will be back this summer for their biggest challenge, Mal’s father Hades (from ‘Hercules’).  Broadway vet Cheyenne Jackson joins as Hades and his performance is sure to be hair-raising, judging by this character photo:

Hades will be manipulating Uma, the daughter of Ursula (China Anne McClain) and her bad buddies Harry Hook, the son of Captain Hook, (Thomas Doherty), and Gill, the son of Gaston (Dylan Playfair).  Also joining the baddies are ‘Th Princess and the Frog’s Doctor Facilier (Jamal Sims) and his daughter Celia (Jadah Marie).  Doctor Facilier’s arcade is glimpsed in the newest teaser trailer for the movie, which you can watch below:

At the end of ‘Descendants 2’, it was determined that other VKs, including Dizzy Tremaine, the daughter of Cinderella’s stepsister Drizella Tremaine, played by Anna Cathcart, could benefit by leaving the Isle of the Lost and attending Auradon Academy, along with the main characters Mal (Dove Cameron), Evie (Sophia Carson), Jay (Booboo Stewart), and Carlos (Cameron Boyce).

But during the process, a rift is left in the barrier between the Isle and Auradon and Mal and her friends must seal it for good before it’s too late.  As seen in the clip, it appears that Ben (Mitchell Hope) will have to get in touch with the Beast within, something that has been teased before, but never shown.

Also returning for ‘Descendants 3’ are: Brenna D’Amico as Jane, daughter of the Fairy Godmother; Melanie Paxson as the Fairy Godmother; Jedidiah Goodacre as Chad Charming, son of Cinderella and Prince Charming; Zachary Gibson as Doug, son of Dopey; Sarah Jeffery as Princess Audrey, daughter of Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip; Dan Payne as the Beast; Keegan Connor Tracy as Belle; and Judith Maxie as Queen Leah.  Newcomers include Christian Convrey and Luke Roessler, as Squeaky and Squirmy, the twin toddler sons of Captain Hook’s sidekick Smee.

The main cast can be seen in their new looks in the character posters below:

Kenny Ortega, who directed the first two movies, has returned for the third chapter.  Ortega is also known for directing the classics ‘Newsies’ and ‘Hocus Pocus’, as well as all three of the ‘High School Musical’ films.

The Disney Channel has not yet announced a specific date for ‘Descendants 3’, but it is expected to premiere this summer.
