Marvel is bringing on the fun and weird in their new Hulu-based animated shows but none of them are probably going to end up as strange as ‘Marvel’s Hit-Monkey’! New details on the series as well as a few tidbits from Josh Gordon and Will Speck have now been revealed, and you can just imagine that this will be a wild ride. Hit-Monkey is a newer Marvel creation having first appeared in a one-shot in 2010, he has gone on to have his own limited series and has appeared alongside Deadpool in recent years.
The show will focus on Hit-Monkey and “tells the tale of a wronged Japanese snow monkey, mentored by the ghost of an American assassin, as he cuts a wide swath through the Tokyo underworld in this darkly cinematic and brutally funny revenge saga.”
Jeph Loeb will serve as an Executive Producer alongside the creative team of Gordon and Speck who are also writing the series.
The two have been fans of Hit-Monkey since his first appearance with Gordon sharing that:
“We first read HIT-MONKEY about eight years ago, not long after it was published, and we were immediate fans. To us, it’s one of the best origin stories for any Marvel character ever.”
Speck went on to let us know how much he has loved working with Marvel and how open they are too unique ideas as:
“When we met with Jeph and everyone at Marvel, we could tell right away that they just wanted to make something that swung for the fences. That’s all you’re looking for, partners who want to make the weirdest stuff possible.”
“The Offenders” will be made up of Hit-Monkey as well as M.O.D.O.K., Tigra, Dazzler, and Howard, the Duck who are all getting new animated shows on ‘Hulu.’
