Go “Higher, Further, Faster, Baby” with the new trailer for ‘Captain Marvel’ as unveiled during the Super Bowl. The clip is short and cut extremely quickly, but there is some new footage showcasing the action elements of the upcoming Marvel Studios film.
Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ ‘Captain Marvel’ is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.
It’s unclear how, but ‘Captain Marvel’ leads into ‘Avengers: Endgame‘ and as we already know, Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers will appear in that sequel, making her major present-day debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But before that happens, ‘Captain Marvel’ will explain just who she is, what she can do (which looks to be a lot!), and how she became the powerhouse that she is.
‘Captain Marvel’ tickets have been released for presales and reportedly, it is selling extremely quickly, third only behind ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Black Panther’. This marks the first solo, female-fronted Marvel Studios picture. Whether that is sparking interest or if fans are just supercharged after ‘Infinity War’ is unknown, but this looks to be another smash.
Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, ‘Captain Marvel’ stars Academy Award-winner Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Jude Law as Yon-Rogg, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Lee Pace as Ronan, Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, and Annette Bening as the Supreme Intelligence. ‘Captain Marvel’ opens in theaters on March 8!
