Chris Messina appeared on the Golden Globes Red Carpet on Sunday night, sporting bleach blond hair, which fits the appearance of his comic book role of serial killer Victor Zsasz in the upcoming Warner Brothers picture ‘Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)’. In more recent comics, the character has been drawn as being completely bald (or clean shaven), earlier rendering showed him with a ‘Real Slim Shady’ platinum buzz. With ‘Birds of Prey’ expected to begin production some time this month, it makes sense that Messina is already getting into character.

Messina may be best remembered for appearing on television, on the acclaimed HBO miniseries ‘Sharp Objects’ or on ‘The Mindy Project’, ‘The Newsroom’ or ‘Damages’ or in the films ‘Argo’, or ‘Away We Go’.
It’s unclear how large a role Victor Zsasz will play in ‘Birds of Prey’, considering that the main villain of the picture is Black Mask, portrayed by Ewan McGregor. Will these two be allies? Or rivals?
Either way, they will have a lot to deal with, as they face off against a newly single Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), The Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and Gotham City police investigator Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez). These formidable female champions are dedicated to saving Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco), who is either a new assassin in training to replace Huntress as Black Mask’s right-hand or who has come to possess something that he is after. (There are conflicting reports as to the exact plot.)
Cathy Yan is directing ‘Birds of Prey’, with a script by Christina Hodson. Filming is due to begin sometime this month, with the finished film set to premier in theaters on February 7, 2020.
