The choose-your-own-adventure styled ‘Black Mirror: Bandersnatch‘ film has taken the Internet by storm and there is a fun ending many have yet to find. It is a secret ending that has an amazing Easter Egg that only true fans of the ‘Black Mirror’ series will fully appreciate. The thing is, the majority of viewers probably will appreciate it but wouldn’t be able to figure out how to get it.
There are a couple of light spoilers here, but we won’t go into detail in this post as to what happens to the story. You’ve been warned though!
If you’re still with me there is a scene which you can stumble across that has Fionn Whitehead’s Stefan back on the original bus he took visiting Tuckersoft and instead of pulling out a tape to listen to, the scene actually reveals that he has the tape of the finished game of ‘Bandersnatch’ and pulls that out to listen to. You get some bizarre music being played, and that is the end of it.
However, this music is actually data, so someone ran it through a ZX Spectrum emulator which ends up giving you the following QR Code:
I’m not going to make you click it to find out where it takes you but the exact location is a hidden page on Tuckersoft’s Website, and this is where the Easter Eggs lie. It looks like they’ve ended up making a pile of games which you might recognize such as ‘Nohzdyve’ and ‘Metl Hedd’ which are, of course, references to various ‘Black Mirror’ episodes. The fun part here is that ‘Bandersnatch’ is said to have “transformed interactive entertainment forever” and you can actually download a copy of the ‘Nohzdyve’ game!
You will need a ZX Spectrum emulator to play it though so make sure to have snagged one of those first which are pretty easy to find online.
As to how you can arrive at this ending, I’d suggest checking out the original post on The Wrap which has a few more spoilers than we’re comfortable sharing with how many people are still playing through this film.
