While it is exciting to think that Guillermo del Toro (‘The Shape of Water’,’Hellboy’) is heading back to horror, the sad news is that he is going to be remaking the recently released film ‘Terrified.’ The esteemed director will be producing a reboot of this Argentinian horror film that was released last year by director Demián Rugna. There currently isn’t much to know about the film which was released state-side as a Shudder Original on the horror streaming service owned by AMC Networks. Rugna is overseeing the new take on his film and also looks to be directing it. What we do know is that Sacha Gervasi (‘My Dinner With Herve,’ ‘The Terminal’) is handling the script.

The studio behind this one is Fox Searchlight who was also behind del Toro’s ‘The Shape of Water.’

The synopsis for the original version of ‘Terrified’ is described as follows:

On an ordinary suburban street in Buenos Aires, voices are heard from kitchen sinks. Bodies
are levitating. Evil is here. It is up to a doctor, her colleague, and an ex-cop to get to the bottom
of this neighborhood nightmare. Demian Rugna’s must-see TERRIFIED is one of the scariest
movies of 2018. A SHUDDER ORIGINAL.

Outside of an English translation and potentially a higher budget for special effects, you have to wonder what might be changing in this new take of the movie. It feels that this is being redone too soon with the original director still being involved to really give us that much of a change.

Are you looking forward to checking out the reboot of ‘Terrified’? Is it too soon to have a remake with the movie being released last year? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
