Danny The Street Rumored To Appear In Doom Patrol

One of the stranger characters from the ‘Doom Patrol‘ comics might be making his way to the small screen as a new rumor is making the rounds that Danny The Street will be appearing. The character is mute in the comics so there currently isn’t a voice actor attached to play the part and it is one whom might be challenging to do with motion capture unless they change the essence of Danny, so this would likely be a CGI creation if he is indeed being included.

For those of you unfamiliar with Danny The Street, he is one of the oddest characters that ‘Doom Patrol’ had introduced to DC Comics, which should say a lot. He is thought of as a living landscape who is mute but does have the ability to communicate. To do so, he places signs and uses smoke to spell out words to share his thoughts and ideas.

Danny has been around since 1990 when he was introduced in ‘Doom Patrol’ #35. “The Street” portion of Danny’s name comes from being a roadway that has come alive who influences and communicates with those who live on him. He ended up becoming the ‘Doom Patrol’s home base and a form of transport for “The World’s Strangest Heroes” since he also can teleport between cities and blends in with any urban environments.

A recent report spoke about his inclusion and also was clear to point out that Danny The Street was one of the first openly gay characters in comics and that he identifies as a man. The report goes on to further describe the character as being full of gun shops, sporting-goods stores, and shops with “lacy curtains and pink bunting” to serve as a tribute to Danny LaRue who is a stage actor and drag queen.

When ‘Titans‘ introduced the ‘Doom Patrol’ it was shared that Dr. Niles Caulder’s mansion was on Danny Street so this may have served as more than an Easter Egg.

DOOM PATROL is a re-imagining of one of DC’s most beloved group of outcast Super Heroes: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (The Chief). The Doom Patrol’s members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities—but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence—and to protect Earth from what they find. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Picking up after the events of TITANS, DOOM PATROL will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same.
