Venom Spider-Man

Venom‘ has blown away expectations and has been a financial success for Sony so it is should come as no surprise that one of the film’s writers believes that a future crossover with Spider-Man could be in the works. While the Sony Universe of Marvel Characters films is still slated to stand apart from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you can’t help but remember that Sony does still own the rights to Spidey and eventually their deal with Disney for Peter Parker’s inclusion in the MCU can come to an end. The success of ‘Venom’ might have them thinking it should happen sooner or later but hopefully isn’t clouding their memories as to how poorly “The Amazing Spider-Man’ movies were received and that everyone loves Tom Holland’s take on the character right now.

Jeff Pinkner, who is one of the screenwriters that brought ‘Venom’ to life, was asked about a future crossover or if the films could somehow end up related:

“Without revealing anything that I’m not allowed to reveal, it is not impossible that in a future/upcoming Venom movie, Spider-Man will play a significant role…I think it’s fair to say that everyone involved would be very excited by a Spider-Man/Venom movie.”

While ‘Venom’ did well at the box office, it would be exciting by anyone at Sony to imagine the behemoth of Disney’s Marvel Studios behind them if such a crossover were to happen. Thankfully, that isn’t guaranteeing that it will or that Sony Pictures has lost their mind and would part ways with the what is currently happening in the MCU.

Would you want to see Tom Holland’s Spider-Man go up against Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock? Is there a chance that the Marvel Cinematic Universe could find a way to bring the still-in-development Sony Universe of Marvel Characters into canon? Share your thoughts in the comments below, True Believers!

You can take ‘Venom’ home digitally, on Blu-Ray, and DVD on December 18th, 2018!
