We know that fandom tends to spiral out of control when it concerns their favorite franchise and David F. Sandberg is trying to put a stop to some of it. Whether it is “Star Trek” vs. “Star Wars” or “Marvel” vs. “DC,” the director of the upcoming DC film ‘Shazam!‘ has decided he isn’t a fan of the trolls who pit fans against one another (which, frankly, has escalated in recent years). In fact, Sandberg has gone so far to call the rivalry “god damn stupid” and points out how this hatred will hurt the film industry over time instead of encouraging creatives to keep delivering solid films on both sides of the aisle.

Here is the post Sandberg shared on Instagram:

There has been a notable uptick in trash talking, negative reviews, and so much more between fans of the companies in recent years. What used to be gentle ribbing between friends has escalated into trolling, fake reviews, and more.

Do you agree with David F. Sandberg that the hatred within our fandom has spiraled out of control? Will this statement make any impact on those who are already foaming at the mouth to speak out against fans of “the other company”? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

‘Shazam!’ will be flying into your local theater on April 5th, 2019!
