There may not be a new ‘Star Wars’ movie in theaters this Christmas, but perhaps this new project will serve as a substitution. Youtube is launching a new animated series, ‘Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventures’ which focuses on the cast of the original trilogy. The new series will launch on Disney’s LOL Star Wars Kids website and the new Star Wars Kids Youtube channel. ‘Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventures’ will mix classic stories with “fun and educational add-ons designed to help older fans, parents, and other mentors to welcome the kids in their lives to explore the galaxy far, far away.” It seems as though this series will retell stories from the original trilogy but filtered for a younger audience, serving as an entry point for young kids.
Lucasfilm’s VP franchise content and strategy James Waugh stated:
“With Galaxy of Adventures, we wanted to craft something that allowed parents to help their kids take their first step into a much larger world whether they were ready to show their kids the films or wanted to find new ways to explore the content.”
It does appear that this series revisits the events of the original movies in animated format. The trailer for ‘Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventures’ features stalwarts like Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, R2-D2, C-3PO, Yoda, and Darth Vader, as well as the Wampa and other notable characters.

‘Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventures’ will launch this Friday with six episodes, with additional installments arriving regularly through December.
This is being eyed as “the beginning of a year-long celebration of Star Wars storytelling,” which will culminate with the release of ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ on December 20, 2019, but will also include the release of Jon Favreau’s ‘The Mandalorian’ on Disney’s upcoming streaming service Disney+ which is expected to premier in the fall.
‘Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventures’ launches Friday, November 30th .
