Bumblebee

I can’t remember the last time I was excited for a live-action ‘Transformers‘ movie but ‘Bumblebee‘ has fully caught my interest and the latest poster for the film only emphasizes what I’m waiting for. My initial draw to the film is that it is being directed by Travis Knight who is responsible for the heartwrenching and moving ‘Kubo and the Two Strings.’ However, it wasn’t until the first real trailer that things really got me going. Being set in the 80s, we’ll be seeing takes on the Transformers which will look closer to their original cartoon counterparts, and that has me fully sold on the idea.

You can check out the new poster for the film right here:

I love how this captures many of the styles you would expect to be present in 80s films and am eager to see not only how this sets up future ‘Transformers’ films but what it will mean for the franchise as well. ‘Transformers: The Last Knight‘ ended up pulling in $500 million less than the previous installment at the box office, and there needs to be some new kind of lure to keep audiences coming back for more if the entire series isn’t going to be completely restarted.

Returning to the era and characters which had the world fall in love with robots in disguise in the first place might be just what the doctor ordered.

What did you think of the latest poster for ‘Bumblebee’? Do you feel that this movie has the potential to revitalize the live-action ‘Transformers’ franchise at the box office or will it be one of the final films to see the light of day before it gets rebooted? On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.

‘Bumblebee’ will transform and roll into your local theaters on December 21st, 2018!
