Black Widow

We’ve heard for a while now that Scarlett Johansson is getting a solo ‘Black Widow’ movie which is rumored to be taking Marvel Studios’ May 1st, 2020 release and now we’re starting to find out more about it. There are still no plot details for the film that have been revealed, and it isn’t clear if this will take place before or after the events of ‘Avengers 4,’ but casting news is sharing a bit of who will be included in it.

The character breakdowns are vague, but we can make a couple of educated guess as to who might be filling these roles.

First up is the main enemy of Black Widow in the film and it’ll be a male. “The villain is simply described as “exciting,” and the studio is open to ethnicity, but looking for someone in their 40s.”

With Natasha known for either sneaking in and out of situations or hand to hand combat, it seems that someone who falls into the same categories could be a good fit. The two proposed ideas here are the Russian super soldier who is known as The Red Guardian or perhaps the Taskmaster.

This won’t be the only villain in the film either as they are also looking for an actress in her 50s to play a “conniving female villain.”

Other casting descriptions are equally as vague. “The first is a “kick-ass” female character described as a “female Bond” and the second is “a male with an emphasis on African, Middle Eastern or East Indian actors.” If the two weren’t meant to be in their late 20s to early 30s, I would have hazard a guess that the first could have been a take on Yelena Belova who is another Black Widow.

Also in his late 20s will be a “bookish American.” No other details are really given there outside of it being a minor role. I would hazard a guess that this will be an Easter Egg character for Marvel fans.

Finally, we have two men who are both meant to be 50-60 years old and would be great to see related to either S.H.I.E.L.D., Hydra, or the Black Widow program. They are a “European Caucasian female and one European Caucasian male.”

We know that Marvel Studios really want actors who can speak multiple languages so we will have some subtitles and possible covert agents popping up in the film.

With Nick Fury and Maria Hill already slated to appear in ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ and already in Europe it’ll be interesting to see if the two spymasters might meet up with their old friend for this one.

‘Black Widow’ will be sneaking into theaters on May 1st, 2020!
