It always feels like it wouldn’t be a ‘Halo‘ game without Master Chief and now Showtime’s upcoming series will feature the character as well! While the network is currently casting men with large builds to play space marines in the series, it sounds like they’ll also be looking to include one who will play Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy John-117! It isn’t clear if whoever plays the character will be shown without their helmet on as in the games we never see Master Chief’s face.
It seems like a stretch to include a series regular in this role which never gets to show off their face, but it also isn’t clear if Master Chief will be a primary character here or a supporting one to satiate fans of the franchise. Whoever plays Master Chief will be a series regular, but that doesn’t mean that they’ll have to show up while off the battlefield if this proves to be an action-heavy series.
Outside of Master Chief, the show is also casting for Dr. Halsey who is probably Dr. Catherine Halsey who has appeared in ‘Halo: Reach,’ ‘Halo 4’, and ‘Halo 5: Guardians’. Also, there will be an inclusion of Jenny who is a younger Asian woman between the ages of 18-20 and appears to be a brand new character.
Halsey was the creator of the SPARTAN-II program and will likely play a prominent role in the series, and as they’re looking for an actress between the ages of 55-65, it will probably have her trying to find ways to protect the soldiers which she spent much of her life developing.
Are you excited that Master Chief will appear in Showtime’s ‘Halo’? Would you have preferred a new story set in this world or are you glad it will more directly reference the games? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
