Aquaman

Jason Momoa‘s ‘Aquaman’ has already been seen decked out in his classic orange and green comic book costume in a trailer for the film, but it was a distance shot.  Even so, it’s easy to make out the scaly texture of his shirt.  Now comes an even better close-up shot of the Sea King.

It appears that Momoa’s Aquaman will be added to the Madame Tussaud’s wax museum in Orlando, FL.  This version will be added to the ‘Justice League: A Call For Heroes’ exhibit.  To promote the debut of this Aquaman statue, Madame Tussaud’s released an ad with a large, high-quality image of the Aqua-suit.  There is some debate as to whether this is the actual figure or a photograph of Momoa.  I’m pretty sure it’s Momoa, but feel free to disagree.

Unfortunately, it isn’t a full-body shot, but even so, in addition to the textured shirt, it’s easy to make out the intricate detailing on the belt and gloves, which have sharp spikes on them, which should make his punches extra damaging.  There is also some inscription on the handle of the Trident of Atlan, a major artifact from the film.

The new wax figure will arrive on display prior to the release of the film, so if you live in the Orlando area or will be vacationing there over winter break, you can get an up-close look at the suit before it appears onscreen.

It’s unclear how much this suit will be worn in the movie, as most of the footage shown so far depicts Momoa in jeans.  But fans have already reacted positively to the reveal of the classic comic book uniform.

We don’t have much longer to wait to see Momoa swimming across the big screen again.  ‘Aquaman’ opens on December 21.  James Wan directed, and the film stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Michael Beach, Willem Dafoe, Djimon Hounsou, Dolph Lundgren, Graham McTavish, Temuera Morrison, Randall Park, and Nicole Kidman.
