Aaron Taylor-Johnson Quicksilver Avengers 4

Nothing about ‘Avengers 4’ has been confirmed.  It doesn’t even have a proper name, that we know of.  But there have been plenty of rumors, including that the film centers around time travel.  Apparently, under the guidance of Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), the heroes will enter the Quantum Realm and travel back before Thanos acquired the Infinity Stones.  There have been photos depicting Chris Evans in his costume from the first ‘Avengers’ movie, which seem to support that.  Since the movie apparently deals with time travel, there has been a lot of buzz that certain dearly departed characters could return to the land of the living.

Unfortunately, Quicksilver isn’t one of them.  Even though actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson signed a multi-picture deal with Marvel, his character, who is Scarlet Witch’s twin brother, was killed during the climax of ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’.  And the actor says that there have been no discussions about him coming back.

When asked about a possible Marvel return, by Metro.UK, he simply stated, “It’s not a conversation right now.”

It seems that Quicksilver was one and done for Marvel Studios.  Instead, the emphasis has been placed on his sister, Wanda, portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen, who has had major roles in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.  Disney is also reportedly developing a ‘Scarlet Witch’ series for their upcoming streaming service.

Meanwhile, Wanda has never appeared on-camera in one of Fox’s ‘X-Men’ movies, although she was referenced in a scene in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ that was cut.  Instead, in that franchise, it’s Quicksilver that is a major player.  Portrayed by Evan Peters, this speedster was featured in a crowd-pleasing sequence in which his character infiltrated the Pentagon in ‘Days of Future Past’ and he was also spotlighted in the next movie, ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’, when he evacuated the X-Mansion before it was destroyed.  He will also appear in ‘Dark Phoenix’ which is due next year.

Taylor-Johnson has kept a mostly low profile since ‘Age of Ultron’.  He most recently starred in the drama ‘A Million Little Pieces’, directed by his wife Sam Taylor-Johnson.  Aaron and Sam wrote the screenplay together.  He will next appear in the Netflix original movie ‘Outlaw King’, co-starring Chris Pine.

Meanwhile, Evan Peters will be seen as Quicksilver in ‘Dark Phoenix’ out on July 7, 2019.
