Stephen Amell Arrowverse Crossover

After two massive crossovers, ‘Invasion!’ and ‘Crisis on Earth-X’, the creators of The CW’s Arrowverse decided to scale back this year.  For starters, the ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ won’t participate.  But beyond that, the new storyline is reportedly more intimate and character driven, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be some major developments to look forward to.  In fact, Stephen Amell says that this will be the best crossover yet!

“The crossover is fucking bananas. It’s crazy… I think that this will be the best crossover event that we do. And not just the best but the best by a really, really wide margin. And I think that last year was fantastic.

“Crisis on Earth X, I think that’s what it was called, that was pretty crazy and getting to play doppelgängers was pretty crazy.  When Greg Berlanti first talked to me about why he wanted to do crossovers, it was because it’s for the fans. It’s so people can watch characters and scenarios that combine their favorite things on TV or introduce them to new things on TV. But you also get this license to do things that we could never do in the vacuum — especially on ‘Arrow’ — that we can never do in the vacuum of just our show.”

Despite the explosion of super beings in this reality, ‘Arrow’ still tends to be grounded in reality.  The majority of villains on it are not metahumans.  So these crossovers allow Amell to intermingle with the superpowered.

Amell remained mum on specifics, but teased:

“I know that we have some crossover surprises and some things that are going to hit the media. It was supposed later during this week, but now I think it’s going to be early next week.  I had the coolest day yesterday on set because … I was very, very happy and excited for David Ramsey. And on the other hand I saw something with my own two eyes standing right in front of me that I just never thought I’d see.”

One thing that fans haven’t yet seen is the Arrowverse version of Gotham City, but that will change with this crossover.  Not only will the heroes from ‘Arrow’, ‘The Flash’ and ‘Supergirl’ visit this crime-riddled burg, but will meet a certain nocturnal avenger.  No, not Batman.  But Batwoman, portrayed by Ruby Rose, whose character is being eyed to potentially headline her own series next year.

If that weren’t enough, Tyler Hoechlin will return as Superman on all three episodes, and the Arrowverse will introduce its take on Lois Lane, portrayed by Elizabeth Tulloch.

The CW superhero shows are returning this week.

The ‘Elseworlds’ crossover kicks off on Sunday, December 9th at 8pm.
