The CW has faith in its new shows.  Prior to their premiers, The CW has already ordered additional scripts for ‘Charmed’, ‘Legacies’ and ‘All American’.

‘Charmed’ is a reboot of the classic witch series, which stars Madeleine Mantock, Melonie Diaz, and Sarah Jeffery as sisters who discover that they are the “Charmed Ones,” witches who have mystical powers meant to save the world.  The CW initially ordered 13 episodes for the first season, but has now requested five more scripts, which brings the total to 18.  ‘Charmed’ also stars Rupert Evans, Ellen Tamaki, Ser’Darius Blain, and Charlie Gillespie.

‘Legacies’ is the spin-off/replacement for ‘The Originals’, which was itself a spin-off/replacement for ‘The Vampire Diaries’.  The series follows the exploits of supernatural beings attending the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young and Gifted.  This series stars Danielle Rose Russell as Hope Mikaelson, a mixed breed vampire/werewolf/witch.  The cast also includes Archie Foltynowicz, Matthew Davis, Jenny Boyd, Kaylee Bryant, Aria Shahghasemi and Quincy Fouse.  Like ‘Charmed’, The CW initially ordered 13 episodes.  The network has now ordered an additional three scripts, which would bring its total to 16.

Because these scripts have been ordered prior to the shows debuting, this isn’t a guarantee that these shows will actually run for 16 or 18 episodes.  If ratings are soft, don’t expect them to actually film the extra episodes.  But bear in mind, The CW is sort of a mini-network and doesn’t air as many shows as ABC, CBS, FOX or NBC, and they renewed one of their lowest rated shows, ‘Dynasty’ for a second season in the spring.  Sure, it moved it to its weakest night, Friday, but it renewed it nonetheless.

The third new show to get an extra script order is high school football drama ‘All American’.  That show debuted on Wednesday, October 10th.

‘Charmed’ will premier on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 9pm and ‘Legacies’ will debut on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 9pm.
