Even with the Disney buyout of Fox officially going through and quickly approaching, Fox still plans on developing a ‘Multiple Man‘ movie. Walt Disney Studios has previously stated that any film in production at the time which the buyout is finalized will still be completed, and now it looks like Fox is trying to get as many X-Men movies as it can onto that state. ‘Dark Phoenix‘ and ‘New Mutants‘ should see the light of day, but both ‘Gambit‘ and ‘Multiple Man’ are two films which were on the fence of being far enough along in development.
According to Simon Kinberg, it sounds like we’ll see it happen. Last year we had heard that not only was James Franco going to star in and produce the feature with Kinberg but that Allan Heinberg (‘Wonder Woman’) was set to pen the script. However, the writer recently inked a deal with ABC to produce an unnamed Marvel Show, and that has many wondering how his time for finishing up ‘Multiple Man’ is looking.
According to Kinberg, the latest update on the film is “that script’s being worked on right now.” I’m sure if the studio does want to get this made, it is being fast-tracked and ideally that means Heinberg is pretty far into it already. The movie will likely have to be in production by the summer of 2019, so they’re working against the clock on finalizing the script, director, and cast for this movie to be far enough along to see the light of day.
Of course, any hope for multiple movies is unlikely as anything not directly related to ‘Deadpool’ is probably being scrubbed out of continuity as Marvel Studios will likely reboot the rest of both the ‘X-Men’ and ‘Fantastic Four’ franchises when they take over the properties.
