Daredevil

We’ve all seen the teasers that Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk is going free in the third season of ‘Daredevil’ but it hasn’t been clear how that is until now. The Kingpin of Crime is going to be back out on the streets of New York though at least one early teaser shared that he would likely be under house arrest for this to happen. I’m suspecting that we won’t see that lasting very long. As to why he is going free, those details are being shared by showrunner Erik Oleson below.

Even behind bars, Fisk has been a busy boy having taken over Ryker’s Island during the second season of ‘Daredevil’ when he made a deal with Frank Castle. With Fisk back on the streets, it wouldn’t surprise me if that will be an issue in either the third season of ‘The Punisher’ or the fourth season of ‘Daredevil.’ That is, assuming, we still see him free at the end of the upcoming season.

Warning, this could be considered a bit of a spoiler though I’m sure it’ll quickly play out in the upcoming season. According to Oleson:

“He learns in the first episode this season that Vanessa, his love, will face criminal charges as an accessory to his crimes in Season 1 and that pushes Fisk to make a decision to become a state’s witness against other criminals in the city and that brings the FBI – and Jay Ali, Ray Nadeem is the FBI agent who becomes his handler, essentially, and gets Fisk out of prison and moves him into a penthouse … while he’s ratting out other criminals. But as we all know, Wilson Fisk, there’s often more to him than meets the eye and I see him this season as somewhat of a spymaster. … We’ve always seen Fisk has his hooks into people, and I go a lot deeper with that this season and that will set Matt and Fisk, of course, on a collision course which will have tremendous implications for everyone in our cast and for who Matt is.”

While Fisk will likely be trying to find out everything he can about The Man Without Fear and working to take him down, it is easy to guess that Fisk will use this vacuum created by the other crime lords going to jail to once again rise to power.

Does the reason for Wilson Fisk going free make sense to you for the upcoming season of ‘Daredevil’? Do you think there is any possibility that he won’t find a way to use his newfound freedom to once again become the Kingpin? Share your thoughts in the comments below, True Believers!
