It is hard to imagine that 1988’s ‘Killer Klowns From Outer Space‘ could possibly be making a comeback but that appears to be the case. The last we had heard about it was in 2016 when there was a television series being talked about, though two years later and we haven’t heard any movement on that project.
Until now as the Chiodo Brothers who created the franchise have shared at this year’s Son of Monsterpalooza convention that there isn’t just movement on bringing these klowns back but that we should be hearing more official news shortly. When talking about a return from ‘Killer Klowns from Outer Space,’ the duo stated:
“I used to say don’t hold your breath, but things have been happening right now… I would say you can hold your breath now. The success of IT recently has kind of educated some of the people in the industry that… clowns are cool; clowns are scary… they’re looking at horror properties now more seriously than ever. I can say, something will be happening with Killer Klowns from Outer Space in the near future. Absolutely.”
Stephen Chiodo also once stated:
“We’ve been working on a sequel since the day after we made [Killer Klowns from Outer Space]. I mean we have tons of ideas on different directions we can take it” and added that “We’ve got this great idea. Sort of like a trilogy in four parts, with the original film being the first, and then we have an idea for a trilogy that would just be a long-ranging series that follows new characters as they battle Klowns, but then we also see Mike Tobacco pop up. And then we see Debbie Stone. And then we see Dave the cop. We’ve got it all written out. It’s a fantastic concept.”
Are you looking forward to a return of the ‘Killer Klowns From Outer Space’? Would you prefer another movie in the franchise, the rumored television series, or a reboot?
