Jennifer Esposito has joined the cast of Amazon’s ‘The Boys’, based on the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.  She will play CIA agent Susan Raynor, who is described as a “key role.”  In the comics, Raynor gives the team their orders and while she openly despises their leader Billy Butcher, she engages in a wild sexual relationship with him.  On the show, Butcher will be played by ‘Star Trek”s Karl Urban.

The show’s cast also includes Jack Quaid as “Wee” Hughie Campbell, Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie and Karen Fukuhara as The Female.  Their adversaries, the Justice League-like Seven consists of Anthony Starr as The Homelander, Erin Moriarty as Annie January / Starlight, Dominique McElligott as Queen Maeve, Jessie T. Usher as A-Train, Chace Crawford as The Deep and Nathan Mitchell as Black Noir.  Elisabeth Shue appears as corporate string-puller, Madelyn Stillwell.  The TV series was created by ‘Supernatural”s Eric Kripke.  ‘Preacher”s Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen are slated to direct.

In the world of ‘The Boys’, the superheroes of the world hide dark secrets.  They are rich, entitled celebrities with a ravenous appetite for sex, drugs and the other perks of a hedonist lifestyle.  When they step too far from their fabricated squeaky clean public images, it’s up to The Boys to reign them in… or take them out.

Esposito is coming off a series regular stint on ‘NCIS’.  She was also featured regularly on ‘The Affair’, ‘Mistresses’, ‘Taxi Brooklyn’, ‘Blue Bloods’, ‘Samantha Who?’, ‘Rescue Me’, ‘Related’, ‘Judging Amy’ and ‘Spin City’.  She also voiced Tina Russo Duck on ‘The Looney Tunes Show’.  She appeared in the recent action movie ‘Speed Kills’ which also stars John Travolta, Kellan Lutz, Tom Sizemore and Matthew Modine.  It wasn’t released in theaters in the US.

Amazon doesn’t yet have a release date for ‘The Boys’ but fall 2019 seems like the most likely target.
