Star Wars: Resistance general leia

We know that due to the tragic passing of Carrie Fisher that General Leia’s story will come to a close in ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ but her character will live on throughout the events of ‘Star Wars: Resistance.’ Now, we have our first look at how Leia will be looking in this animated adventure from a galaxy far, far away.

It was recently confirmed that Rachel Butera would be voicing the woman who toppled an Empire and now we’re going to see how she helped form a Resistance to the First Order as it started to take hold in the “Star Wars” galaxy.

In the shot we have an animated Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron talking to the General via hologram and the voice actress who is playing her shared it in the following tweet:

Butera won’t be the first voice actress to take on Leia. Julie Dolan has previously voiced a younger Leia in ‘Star Wars Rebels‘ while Shelby Young took on the part in ‘Forces of Destiny.’ However, this is the first time someone will be voicing her after she has taken on the role of General of the Resistance. We know that Leia is tasking Poe to start this new group of spies, but it isn’t clear at this time how strong of a part she will have to play throughout the series. I suspect that we’ll see quite a bit of her leadership skills shining through as she not only leads but inspires those around her against the First Order.

It also wouldn’t be a surprise if we see the groundwork for the call to arms that went unanswered in ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ will show us exactly who she was hoping would be lending a hand to her cause.

What do you think of General Leia’s look in ‘Star Wars: Resistance’? Do you feel that Rachel Butera will be able to do a worthy job of voicing this iconic character? Share your thoughts below!

Disney XD will debut ‘Star Wars: Resistance’ on October 7th, 2018 at 10pm.
