If you love a good blast from the past than you’ll enjoy the fact that Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, and Thomas F. Wilson all got together to celebrate 33 years of ‘Back to the Future.’ The cast previously reunited for a 30th anniversary celebration in 2015, and this is the first time these fan-favorites have had a chance to get back in touch. At least, all at once.
Michael J. Fox shared this surprise get together on Instagram which you can see right here:
In 2016 we heard that franchise producer Frank Marshall had no plans to remake or reboot the franchise. Director Robert Zemeckis also said it wouldn’t even happen even though Lloyd would love to reprise his role as Doc Brown. As to the rest of the cast? Wilson jokingly stated that “Basically, I think America is saying, ‘Come on they’ve wrecked every other franchise with bad sequels, why not this one? C’mon, we would watch it until it sucks!”
Fox though said it was highly unlikely to see it happen as Bob Gale is “the gatekeeper” and we know that Zemeckis and Gale would never greenlight another outing.
Personally, I’m perfectly happy with at least one of our classic franchises being allowed to stay in the past.
Were you happy to see Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, and Thomas F. Wilson all reunited again? Would you be open to the concept of ‘Back to the Future’ being explored in a new movie? If they did return to the world of time traveling DeLoreans would you want it to be a soft reboot or a full reboot? Share your thoughts below!
