Game Of Thrones

When the final scene of ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7 concluded, fans were left were dozens and dozens of questions. A lot had just happened, one of Dani’s dragons had just been shown as a wight spewing blue fire capable of bringing down the Wall, the White Walkers had just crossed into the North, and the small group of Night Watchmen and Wildlings left at the Wall appeared to have just been wiped out, including fan favorites Tormund Giantsbane and Beric Dondarrion, who had been on the shows for quite a few seasons. It was all very shocking, and exciting, and left fans immensely excited for Season 8.

Now the question is, are Beric and Tormund really dead? Recently, ‘Game of Thrones’ submitted the Season 7 finale script for an Emmy award and everyone got to see what exactly the writers had to say about the fate of the men on the Wall, and it appears what happened to them was left deliberately vague, with the exact wording something like Beric and Tormund were gathering their allies to “run for their lives and disappear from view” which makes it seem like they might have fled and survived, but they still could have been killed when the Wall came down.

Story-wise it would make more sense if they survived so they could be the ones to inform those in the North, or Jon and Dani, that the White Walkers had broken through the Wall and were on the way with an undead Dragon, which would build some great dramatic tension. On the other hand, if they died and the next White Walker attack on the North was a surprise that could also make for an awesome Season 8 opening scene, so I honestly do not know what direction they could be going with it.

What do you think? Are Tormund and Beric still alive? Would they really give those characters ignominious off-screen deaths? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments below!
