David Tennant gen:LOCK

David Tennant is known and loved throughout many fandoms. From ‘Jessica Jones’ to ‘Broadchurch,’ and most recently, the animated series, ‘Ducktales,’ Tennant has done it all. Of course, I would be remiss not to mention his time playing the time-traveling Doctor on ‘Doctor Who.’ Now, Tennant will be playing a very different kind of doctor!

The creative team at Rooster Teeth recently announced that they have cast Tennant as Dr. Rufus Weller in a new animated show, ‘gen: LOCK.’ In a newly released teaser, fans can hear the familiar vocal stylings of Tennant in the context of the show!

‘gen:LOCK’ is set to premiere in January 2019, and will tell the story of a team of “young pilots tasked with controlling the next generation of giant, weaponized robot bodies known as mecha.” The series boasts an all-star cast in addition to Tennant, with Michael B. Jordan, Dakota Fanning, and Kōichi Yamadera. Some Rooster Teeth veterans will also be joining the cast, including Lindsay Jones, (‘RWBY’), Miles Luna (‘RWBY’), Chad James (‘Death Battle’), Blaine Gibson (‘Camp Camp’), and Gray G. Haddock (‘RWBY’).

Haddock, who also serves as Head of Rooster Teeth Animation gave a statement about the upcoming show, saying:

“Being able to craft an ensemble cast using both our own talent and well-known actors from outside of the company is a fantastic opportunity. Part of what makes Rooster Teeth so unique is that our staff runs the business, makes the company function day-to-day, writes, directs, produces, and performs on-camera and in the recording booth. It keeps our team and our community invested in what we do. I hope to work in as much of the extended Rooster Teeth Animation acting family as I can over time into this show, one way or another, so fans can continue to hear their favorite voices in this new world.”
