ducktales

No matter how you may feel about all the remakes and reboots coming from Walt Disney Studios, it’s hard to argue that they haven’t been good. Plus, a whole new generation is now able to see their own versions of classics like ‘Cinderella’, ’The Jungle Book’, ‘Pete’s Dragon’, and ‘Beauty and the Beast’. But these reboots aren’t limited to the big screen. Disney XD announced in early 2015 that they’re bringing back the beloved animated series ‘DuckTales’, which follows rich uncle Scrooge McDuck and his three mischievous grandnephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie as they go on wacky adventures. And though we may have seen a few promotional images touting the Summer 2017 release date and the new takes on the characters, there hasn’t been many other details revealed as of yet. However, we now know who will be lending their voices to these iconic characters thanks to the memorable theme song that many kids from the late 80s and early 90s will surely remember.

To announce the cast for the highly-anticipated reboot, Disney XD released a video of the all-new stars singing the original series’ theme song. Headlining the quack pack for the upcoming globe-trotting adventures is ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘Jessica Jones’ star David Tennant, who will no doubt bring his particular Scottish burr to Uncle Scrooge. He’ll be joined by ‘Powerless’ and ‘Community’ star Danny Pudi, ‘Parks and Recreation’ favorite Ben Schwartz, and ‘Saturday Night Live’ staple Bobby Moynihan as the voices of mischief-making Huey, Dewey and Louie, respectively. The cast will be rounded out by Beck Bennett as Launchpad McQuack, Toks Olagundoye as Mrs. Beakley, and Kate Micucci as Webby Vanderquack. But to get in on the fun that is that unforgettable theme song, check out the video below of the cast participating in a ‘DuckTales’ sing-along:

While this does give us the primary cast of the show, now we’re left wondering who will play some of the other characters like Gyro Gearloose, Duckworth, Flintheart Glomgold, Doofus, and Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys (Burger Beagle, Bouncer Beagle). Also, will Tony Anselmo be lending his talents once again to Scrooge’s nephew Donald Duck, who has been featured in some promotional material for the new show? All signs point to yes since he’s the official character voice for Donald and has been since 1985, but we’re more likely to get the answers to these questions more as the premiere date gets closer. Until then, let us know what you think about the new ‘DuckTales’ cast and enjoy this version of the theme song by Disneyland mainstays Suburban Legends (which I think should totally be used as the new show’s theme).
