Daredevil

Well, even though we already got ‘Luke Cage’ Season 2 this year (and it was great) and are soon to see ‘Iron Fist’ Season 2, fans are still wondering where ‘Daredevil’ Season 3 is and why Netflix is taking so long to release the third season of their flagship Marvel series, especially when ‘The Defenders’ left Matt Murdock’s fate as such a cliffhanger.

Luckily for us, at the recent Television Critics Associated press tour Netflix ‘s VP Of Original Content Cindy Holland was there to field questions on the Marvel shows, and she seemed confident in ‘Daredevil’ Season 3 and hinted that it would be more in line with Season 1 and less like Season 2. where the focus shifted more to the Punisher and Elektra.

On the topic of ‘Daredevil’ Season 3 and why it does not have an airdate yet and whether that meant Netflix was nervous after the second season, Holland stated that:

“The biggest issue was the timing of production and launching of The Defenders because what that meant is we had to shut down all of the shows, so all the actors be available for The Defenders so it’s more function of that…There is no problem with this season, I think it’s fantastic, it’s real return to form in my view.”

When asked about ‘Luke Cage’ Season 3, which apparently is already being written, Holland claimed that, oddly enough:

“We haven’t made any firm decisions yet.”

Which could just mean they are waiting to see full viewership numbers on the 2nd season to see where the 3rd season will fit on their programming schedule. And, amazingly, despite the fact that Disney’s new (unnamed) streaming service is supposedly taking any and all new Marvel series, it seems Netflix is still considering spinning off some Marvel characters and making new shows out of them, at least according to a recent Tweet:

Can you think of any characters that would fit well into the Netflix corner of the MCU? Are there any that Disney would not mind letting Netflix continue to use without wanting them for their own streaming service? Feel free to share your theories in the comments below!
