Maisie Richardson-Sellers

To clarify things, Maisie Richardson-Sellers is returning for another trip aboard the Waverider in Season Four of ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ on The CW.  But fans will be forgiven for assuming otherwise, considering that in the Season Three finale, it looked as though her character, Amaya Jiwe, had returned to her natural time period of 1942 to live in Zambezi as she was meant to, historically.  After all, if she didn’t, her granddaughter, the superhero of Detroit, Vixen II a.k.a. Mari Jiwe McCabe (Megalyn Echikunwoke) would never be born.  But somehow, Richardson-Sellers’ Vixen will be back, as she posted via Twitter:

Earlier statements by executive producer Marc Guggenheim seem to support these statements from Richardson-Sellers:

“Yes, Maisie will absolutely be back.  We just felt like we owed it to the character to complete this arc, complete this story loop that we got her in. Once we took her off of her path in 1942, it was always incumbent upon us to return her to that path. That was something that hung over us as writers, and hung over the character… I’m looking forward to a different storyline for Amaya next year. We’ll reveal our plans for Maisie’s character at Comic-Con this year.”

There are plenty of shakeups in store for ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ in the upcoming season, as Keiynan Lonsdale‘s Wally West/Kid Flash departs, while Matt Ryan‘s John Constantine, Jes Macallan’s Ava Sharpe, and Courtney Ford‘s Nora Darhk come aboard as series regulars.  There will also be appearances by Amaya’s lover Nate Heywood/Steel’s father, Hank and a new female Asian character, whose identity has yet to be revealed.

As both Richardson-Seller and Guggenheim stated, more will be revealed at San Diego Comic-Con in just a few weeks.

‘Legends of Tomorrow’ returns for its fourth season on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 9pm EST.
