Questions abound about how the Avengers / Marvel is going to tie up all the loose ends left over after the insanity of ‘Avengers: Infinity War,’ and a new rumor about another Eternal cameo in the film may help shed some light on how they are going to do it.
First off, there has been a lot of talk about the set-photos showing Tony and Cap back in their armor/ costume from the original ‘Avengers,’ leading to many discussions about the use of time travel in ‘Avengers 4.’ This would make sense if they were trying to undo the damage done by Thanos by either traveling back in time to correct their own mistakes or to stop the Infinity Stones from ever being found. The NEW RUMOR is that this use of time travel (and changing the timeline) may draw the attention of one Eternal character from Marvel Comics, namely Kronos, who may not like mortals messing with time being that Kronos is the “Master of Time” in the Marvel universe.
As the website MCU Cosmic points out, there is a lot happening to support this theory at the moment. Here is the evidence as collected by the folks over at MCU Cosmic:
- “Jim Starlin reportedly told a convention crowd last month that he’ll receive more credit in Avengers 4, meaning another one of his characters will be showing up and he did create Kronos.
- He [Kronos] is an Eternal, which is something Marvel is putting a lot of push behind.
- He [Kronos] helped found the planet of Titan, which we saw in Infinity War and is where Thanos is from.
- He [Kronos] is the cosmic master of time in the Marvel universe.”
All of this does make sense, and it would be very cool to see a being with this kind of power in the MCU, as we have not really seen anyone with this kind of significance on the Cosmic side outside of Ego or Thanos. And the fact that it plays into the time travel rumors makes a lot of sense. I personally love the idea of ‘Avengers 4’ using time Travel as not only a plot device to undo the damage done by Thanos, but also as a tool to revisit the best moments from the MCU and prior ‘Avengers’ movies, especially if the movie is the big send-off for some of the original team.
