“Did they survive when Thanos snapped his fingers?”
That’s the question everyone’s been asking about their favorite Marvel characters, or at least the ones who found themselves left out of the already jam-packed ‘Avengers: Infinity War’. We’ve had some of those questions answered. Valkyrie, for example, has been confirmed by the Russo brothers to have escaped with a number of Asgardian civilians. The fates of others, however, have been left ambiguous.
Thankfully, we can now add the Grandmaster, last seen in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ to the former list. Thanks to Digital Spy, we’ve learned the Grandmaster’s fate from perhaps the most reliable source of all: Jeff Goldblum. The word comes as part of a longer video interview, during which Goldblum reveals – in perhaps the most Goldblum-ian manner possible – just what happened to his character:
“Grandmaster is more superheroed than all of them put together. You can’t kill me, I’m like a vampire. I’m deathless and I can kill people by looking at them. Or I can resurrect them just by looking at them and thinking of them. I can do everything. Being able to do all of that, all I want to do is play games. So I’m really everywhere and nowhere. I’m like Keyser Soze.”
Directed by the Russo brothers from a script by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ marks the culmination of a decade-long effort by Marvel Studios and sees the Avengers team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy to take on Thanos. The film counts Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Holland, Karen Gillan, Paul Rudd, Chadwick Boseman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olson, Sebastian Stan, and three gentlemen named “Chris” among its gargantuan cast. The long-awaited movie is in theaters now, while ‘Avengers 4’ is set to arrive on May 3, 2019.
