Amazon Studios has just snagged some major talent for their upcoming adaptation of ‘The Boys‘ with Elisabeth Shue (‘Leaving Las Vegas,’ ‘Back to the Future Part III’) having joined the cast! The series has a straight-to-series order from the streaming giant and will be brought to us by Eric Kripke (‘Supernatural’) as well as ‘Preacher”s Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen through Sony Pictures TV. The series will be based on the comic by the same name which was panned by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.
She’ll be joining some amazing actors such as Karl Urban, Karen Fukuhara, Erin Moriarty, Antony Starr, Dominique McElligott, Chace Crawford, Jessie T. Usher, and Nathan Mitchell.
In this universe, we’ll follow a group known as the boys who are a set of vigilantes which are trying to take down the corrupt superheroes who they believe are ruining the world that they live in. They’re sick of humanity being collateral damage in these super fights and are willing to go to extremes to stop it from continuing.
In the series, Shue has been tapped to play Madelyn Stillwell. Stillwell is the Vice President of Hero Management for Vought. Vought is the defense contractor who owns the Seven major superheroes as well as smaller teams. The company’s job is to help craft the public persona of superheroes and work out their public relations problems. If a major accident happens or someone from a smaller town needs a superhero on loan to stop an issue, she is at the center of making these things happen. It sounds like she’ll be taking over the role of James Stillwell in the comics.
If you haven’t read the books, you can probably guess that her vision of the world and that of the boys don’t exactly align with one another.
