With fans and critics alike praising the reboot of ‘Lost in Space’ it should come as no surprise to anyone that Netflix has renewed the series for a second season. While not fully accurate, Nielsen puts the show at having picked up 3.16 million viewers in the first day of its release which is pretty impressive for a new take on a science fiction show which had originally run for three years in the 1960s with a failed movie reboot attempted slightly more recently.
From what numbers have been garnered so far, this puts the series at the third best-premiere day viewership on the streaming service and follows only the second season of ‘Stranger Things‘ and the Will Smith fantasy thriller ‘Bright.’
This new take on ‘Lost in Space’ comes to us from Legendary Television and “stars Toby Stephens, Molly Parker, Maxwell Jenkins, Mina Sundwall, Taylor Russell, Ignacio Serricchio and Parker Posey.” Behind the camera, the network has put together a great set of Executive Producers which include “Zack Estrin, Kevin Burns, Jon Jashni, Matt Sazama, and Burk Sharpless.”
The show has taken us 30 years into the future where humanity is colonizing space. Only, the Robinson family finds themselves trapped in a world that is not where they were scheduled to land and to be lightyears from their original destination. From the new world which this family is stranded upon, the changes to Dr. Smith, and that robot which we’ve yet to really dive into so far – there is a wealth of changes which viewers have loved so far!
