B-Movie superstar Bruce Campbell recently retired from playing Ashley Williams in the ‘Evil Dead’ franchise and now he is also retiring from playing Elvis! For those that this is coming out of left field for, ‘Bubba Ho-Tep’ is another cult classic which Campbell is known for that was released in 2002. The concept had an aged Elvis Presley in a nursing home trying to enjoy his twilight years in peace when an ancient Mummy started to prey upon those who lived there and he had to suit up one last time to stop him.

It was never made clear if Campbell was actually playing the King of Rock & Roll or someone who was no longer entirely in control of their faculties but the film was hilarious. There had been plans to follow up the movie with ‘Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She-Vampires’ swirling for some time though it never went anywhere. At the time, Campbell was quoted as having said that “I told the creators that I didn’t want to dance around it anymore. I feel that the first one was a nice little gem, and you don’t have to make a sequel for everything. Don Coscarelli, god bless him, go make it. You know, get somebody else. They had Ron Perlman at one point. Knock yourself out.”

This being a day and age where we already saw Campbell come back as Ash for three seasons of ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ one could have hopes that maybe he’d finally return for this film as well. The actor decided to shoot down that rumor and stated on Twitter that:

It looks like Ash and Elvis have both officially left the building. It will be interesting to see what Campbell is set to tackle next or if he is looking to celebrate his own golden years.

Are you sad that we won’t be getting a sequel to ‘Bubba Ho-Tep’? Is there another iconic role which you’d love to see Bruce Campbell come back for? Share your thoughts below!
